Keep working on name recognition and name writing. It is also important to work on identifying letters in the
alphabet, upper and lowercase. A wonderful letter learning tool is "The Letter Factory", a Leap Frog DVD.
This school year each child will have a chance to take home our friends Curious George and Corduroy. They will get to then draw a picture and write a story about their time with these stuffed friends. They will then tell the whole class about what they did together, and the teacher will read the story about their time together.
When your child turns in the AR reading lists monthly he/she will have a chance to go to the AR Store to go shopping. (AR lists = money at the AR store!) At the end of the year, if all lists are turned in, your child will get a gold medal at graduation.
Once during the school year your child will bring in pictures and a write up to hang on the hallway for the All About
Me Bulletin Board. The kids love looking at pictures of their friends on this board. This week will be near his or her birthday week.
Almost every class day your child will have a tracing paper that they will start working on at the beginning of class. This then goes home for the child to complete. If they finish it and put it back in their folder they will earn a sticker!
We have a letter of the week. Every four weeks your child will bring in an item that begins with the letter of the week. A schedule was sent home so that you know when it is your child's turn. This activity is a wonderful way to work on letter sounds at home. |
